Cotecna Brazil Advances ESG Strategy with Hybrid Fleet Transition in 2025

In line with our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments, Cotecna Brazil has implemented a key sustainability initiative by updating part of its vehicle fleet. The company transitioned from conventional gasoline-powered vehicles to more energy efficient hybrid models, a decision guided by energy performance criteria, and the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. 

The upgrade reflects Cotecna’s long-term strategy to optimize operational efficiency while limiting environmental impact. A technical comparison of both models, based on an annual driving average of 20,000 km—demonstrates a substantial environmental benefit. 

The previous gasoline vehicles recorded an average fuel efficiency of 8.3 km/L, whereas the new hybrid models reach 12.6 km/L, representing a significant improvement. This translates into an estimated annual fuel consumption of 2,409 liters for the former vehicles, compared to 1,587 liters for the hybrid models. 

The switch results in average annual savings of 822 liters of fuel per vehicle, a reduction that also generates an important environmental impact. Considering an emission factor of 2.31 kg of CO₂ per liter of gasoline, Cotecna estimates that each replacement contributes to a reduction of approximately 1.9 tons of CO₂ emissions per year.
