Cotecna Hosts Open House to Promote the Congo Conformity Assessment program

Earlier this June, Cotecna successfully hosted an Open House event in Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo, aimed at deepening awareness and clarifying procedures related to the Congolese Conformity Assessment Programme (PCEC). The event served as an opportunity for stakeholders to gain practical insights into the Verification of Conformity (VOC) process and its role in supporting smooth, compliant imports into the country. 

As a trusted partner of the Republic of Congo, Cotecna is officially mandated by the Congolese Agency for Standardization and Quality (ACONOQ) to operate as a certification body under the PCEC. Our responsibility is to ensure that all regulated goods exported to Congo comply with the technical regulations and standards approved by ACONOQ. 

During the session, Cotecna experts walked attendees through the pre-shipment inspection process, emphasizing the key documentary requirements necessary to obtain a Certificate of Conformity.  

The discussion highlighted the risks of shipping without a valid certificate, which can result in delays, additional costs, or rejections at the point of entry, as well as the need for costly destination inspections. Attendees were reminded that obtaining a certificate through Cotecna ensures that goods are cleared faster and more efficiently at customs, reducing demurrage and storage fees.
