Cotecna Peru strengthens its Metals & Minerals strategy with the visit of its new global Director Mark Houchin

The Cotecna Peru team was pleased to welcome Mark Houchin, recently appointed Cotecna’s Director of Metals & Minerals, who visited the country from May 21 to 23 alongside César Gutiérrez, Business Development Manager M&M LATAM. 

During his visit, Mark met with local teams to gain first-hand insight into the facilities, operational capabilities, technical equipment, and key processes supporting Cotecna’s services in the country. These meetings also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on strategies to further strengthen and expand Metals & Minerals services across the region, reinforcing the company’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth. 

As part of the agenda, the delegation also visited the Impala warehouse, in connection with operations linked to Minera Chinalco Peru, one of Cotecna’s key clients in the mining sector. 

This visit takes place in a context of sustained growth for Cotecna Peru in mining. Since entering the sector in 2019, the company has strengthened its presence through processes aligned with high operational standards, including the early achievement of NTP-ISO/IEC 17025 accreditations, ensuring the reliability of its testing and analytical services. 

In line with this growth, in February 2025, Cotecna expanded the capacity of its mineral laboratory in Peru by 50%, strengthening key areas such as instrumental analysis, fire assay and environmental control. Additionally, the recent renewal of its contract with Minera Chinalco through 2028 reaffirms client confidence in the quality, precision, and efficiency of the services provided. 

With a focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and close client relationships, Cotecna continues to strengthen its position as a strategic partner for the mining industry, contributing to the development of a more modern, sustainable, and competitive mining sector in Peru and across the region.
