Soybean Quality and the Market Impact of Quarantine Weeds | Technical Update Session

On Tuesday, April 14, Cotecna Uruguay held a Technical Update Conference focused on two strategic issues for the agribusiness sector: soybean quality and the impact of quarantine weeds on access and competitiveness in international markets. 

The conference was attended by more than 60 key agriculture stakeholders, creating a valuable forum to discuss and understand technical analysis and evolving challenges facing the grain value chain particularly in terms of regulations, market demand, and sustainability. 

The event was organized by Cotecna Uruguay, led by Adrián Meyer, Technical Laboratory Manager, and Melissa Garrone, Country Manager. The session featured an outstanding presentation from Luiz Cavalcante, Technical Governance Manager of Cotecna Brazil, who addressed in depth critical aspects related to the management of soybean quality and its direct relationship with the presence of quarantine weeds, a determining factor for compliance with phytosanitary requirements and access to international markets. 

During his presentation, Luiz put into perspective how adequate quality management not only mitigates commercial and operational risks, but also directly impacts the sustainability of the business, the generation of value and the reputation of exporting companies. 

The conference was also attended by Erica Álvarez, Head of CCS-QMS of Cotecna Argentina, who presented the benefits of the RTRS (Round Table on Responsible Soy) Certification for Responsible Production and the Chain of Custody of Sustainable Soy and Corn. Erica highlighted the role of certifications as key tools to respond to the demands of international markets, improve traceability and strengthen the positioning of agricultural products. 

In a global scenario marked by greater regulatory requirements, stricter phytosanitary controls and growing commitments in terms of sustainability, this type of technical meeting acquires a strategic value. The meeting allows not only the update of knowledge, but also the collective reflect on how comprehensive quality management translates into competitive advantages, access to markets and stronger and more sustainable business relationships over time.
